Nobody told you the hardest thing being a parent is not
Waking up for night feeds and diaper change
Teaching ABCs and 123
But it’s accepting the child including the bad behaviours
Loving the child and keep choosing to love despite
(Now I know why we always feel rejected when we were just a young child)
Correcting bad behaviours customising to the child’s personality which you, as a parent, knows better
(This, personality, you know, is a part of yours)
Nobody ever told you one of the hardest thing of being a parent is not having to handle meltdowns in piblic
raising and caring for the child with little or no support
It is you will have to parent your partner and sometimes yourself
It is asking yourselves again and again how should you react or respond in every situation - adulting
Knowing your bad response was reflected through your “misbehaved” child
We know the worry and fear before the child is born - is he developing and growing well
When child is a little older, we worry if he receives good education and if he’s socially adaptable and acceptable
And we worry if he grows to be a fine young man with a bright future and life ahead
On a side note, I now know why people rants on social media. It’s just a hope to be embraced with a listening ear and empathic heart. (Reminder to self on parenting a teen in the many years down the road)
